BIO
KittyKat DirtNap formed in August of 2002, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Adam Eckhoff (vocals, guitar), Robyn Montella (vocals, keyboards), and Ernie Pester (guitar) had spent some time together in previous projects, before finally joining up with Tom Bilotta (bass) and Ben Wawro (drums) to become what the band is today. The result is a mix of infectious synth laden hooks and raucous male/female vocals. KittyKat DirtNap has shared the stage with such bands as Reggie and the Full Effect, OKGO and Dressy Bessy. They are currently gearing up to tour vehemently in support of their freshman release on Wonka Vision Records, due out October 5th. The new record entitled ‘I am a robot, I am talking like a robot, I am a robot’ has been described as “…carebears with Uzi’s declaring war on Weezer Island!” I Am A Robot, the Dirtnaps debut record, is the first documentation from a band whose steadfast dedication and determination will see them doing everything possible to make a career out of their music. And maybe get some asses to shake along the way.

“…carebears with uzi’s, declaring war on Weezer island!” – Matt Hanemann

“In the feline-hating, irony-adoring universe of Philly five-piece Kittykatdirtnap, chugging, crunchy hooks collide with the sweet-turned-sour vocal pairing of guitarist Adam Eckhoff and keyboardist Robyn Montella at every turn. Knotty and propulsive, the songs are equally ideal for hip- shaking or fist-pumping. And while Eckhoff’s singing–and sometimes screaming–is awfully earnest, the band seems obsessed with pun-happy, referential song titles, from “Mini-Van(Halen)” to “(Getting Caught Enjoying)Phil Collins.”- The Philadelphia Weekly

“…KKDN competed in the mother of all band competitions, the Emergenza Festival, earlier this year and generated plenty of buzz – the group was nominated for the Philly Music Award for best original act, not to mention dubbed “Best Local Album of 2003” by the Philadelphia City Paper. “
– The Philadelphia Metro

Keyboard-driven indie bands are supposed to be fluffy and cute, right? Not with a name like Kitty Kat Dirt Nap. On its debut four-song EP, this Phillyvia- Bucks County quintet starts out charmingly enough on “Getting Caught Enjoying Phil Collins” with Adam Eckhoff’s jangly guitar, Robyn Montella’s airy Moog and trade-off vocals between the two. But once the distortion pedal gets hit, the energy carries through to the closing “Theme.” It’s synthpop with teeth. –J.V. Philadelphia City Paper
